The course is a single loop 4.20 Miles - Elevation Gain Per Loop is approx. 415 feet and Elevation Loss Per Loop is approx. 415 feet. 2022 the loop will be run Counter-clockwise!

Queeny Backyard Ultra will start at 12 p.m. SHARP on Friday, March 3, 2023!
Before the start of each loop, the race director will go through the following protocol as such indicating time until the start.
--3 minutes before the start (whistle will be blown 3 times)
--2 minutes before the start (whistle will be blown 2 times)
--1 minute before the start (whistle will be blown 1 time)
--30 seconds will be announced before start
--10 seconds will be counted down before the start
--START (Cowbell will be rung)
You have ONE HOUR to finish the loop once it has started. If you finish a loop within the hour, you have the opportunity to START the NEXT hour provided you are IN the start corral when the next hour starts. If you do not finish within the hour, you are OUT of the race and considered a DNF.

Aid Stations
There will be NO aid stations ON the course, but we will have an aid station at the start/finish area. Runners are responsible for their own aid, but we will have water and coffee for RUNNERS ONLY!
Runners are not required to carry their own hydration bottle, pack, or cup on the course, but is suggested if you are one that gets thirsty easily. If there is any special drink, nutrition, or other food items that you require, please come prepared.
*Keep in mind that Terrain Trail Runners events are "cupless" races. This policy is put into effect in an effort to reduce the amount of waste and adopt a sustainable “green” practice for the race and the sport of trail/ultra running*

The purpose of these rules is to ensure the run’s integrity as well as for the safety of all those involved. Violations of any rules or directives may be grounds for disqualification.

Before the start of each loop, the race director will go through the following protocol as such indicating time until the start.

1) Once you are on the course, you are not allowed any aid from your crew, pacers or otherwise.
2) You are not allowed to return to the race HQ once the loop has started.
3) You must be ON and STAY on the course, unless you need to use the bathroom (please do so off the trail or road discreetly). There may or may not be a port-a-potty on the course.
4) No artificial aids (including trekking poles) are allowed
5) Once you are back to the start and assuming you've finished within the hour, you may use the bathroom, eat, drink, sleep, ponder the next loop, etc., but you MUST be back in the start corral or you will be considered a DNF (NO EXCEPTIONS). This means you MAY NOT start late (even if you are in bathroom).
6) You may also choose not to continue though you will be considered a DNF. Make sure you inform the race crew your intention to drop!
7) If you are one that needs more time in between loops, then run faster so you have more time, but you might burn more energy. You may also choose to run slower which will give you less time back at the start/finish area, but you will burn less energy. You have to choose which strategy works best for YOU.
8) Runners are responsible for their own aid, but we will have water and coffee for RUNNERS ONLY!
9) Runners will be able to set up a SMALL tent if they so choose nearby.
Near the start/finish line, runners will have a small area where they may set up a chair for quick access between loops.
10) Runners are allowed ONLY TWO CREW MEMBERS if they like.
11) Restrooms are available near the start/finish area.
12) Runners will continue until ONE runner completes a FINAL lap. (i.e. If there are two runners left and one does not complete the loop, then the one that completed the loop will be declared the winner). That runner will be considered the winner of the Queeny Backyard Ultra!

These rules are meant to make your experience during any Terrain Trail Runners event a positive one. Most of these are common sense type policies that you will see at any trail or ultra race.
1. Absolutely No Littering! The race is on St. Louis County Parks land. Please respect that we are using their amazing and beautiful trails for this race. Failure to do so could jeopardize the future of the event in Queeny Park.
2. There will be no unofficial runners on course.
3. Each runner’s official run number must be worn prominently on the front of the body and must be easily visible at all times.
4. Runners must check IN and OUT of the aid station. This is for the safety of the runners and volunteers.
5. Runners must follow the marked trails at all times. Any runner departing from the official trail must return to the point of departure on foot before continuing.
6. Any runner wishing to drop from the race must inform the nearest aid station captain.
7. Runners must refrain from any act of bad sportsmanship.
8. No crew will be allowed along the course. Crew can only be at start/finish
9. No pacers are allowed.
10. This is a CUP-FREE event.
11. REFUND/BIB TRANSFER POLICY: If you cancel your registration before January 15, 2023 or more days before the event date you will receive a 50% refund. 13. PLEASE NOTE: Once online registration closes and bibs have been assigned we will not be making any changes to a participants registrations such as drop downs, registration cancellations and or withdrawals. Please adhere to registration deadlines.
15. PREGNANCY DEFERRAL – Women who get pregnant between registration and race day may defer 100% entry fee to the following year only. Please, you must notify the race director contact the RD well in advance to cancel and defer your registration.
16. Military and First Responder Discount - Contact us for a discount code if you are active military, a veteran or a first responder.
17. Please respect others that are on the trail. The trails on the course are open to the public and will be well traveled in some places. Please announce your intentions to pass if you are coming upon a hiker or another runner.
18. Smoking is not permitted on any of the trails or at any checkpoint by runners (probably shouldn’t be doing this race anyway).
19. The use of personal music devices is allowed at this race, but discouraged. To enjoy all that our race has to offer and for the safety of all participants, Terrain Trail Runners encourages a headphone-free environment during the running of the race.
