Amber Tompsett-Higley
2025 STL Women's Trail Summit Host/Event Manager
Meet Amber Tompsett-Higley — Trailblazer, Science Buff & Mushroom Enthusiast 🍄

Amber has been part of the Terrain Trail Runners-STL crew since 2018, with her first experience being the unforgettable STL Women’s Trail Summit that same year. Growing up in rural Michigan, she’s explored all corners of the outdoors—but these days, her heart belongs to the trail. The farther from the trailhead, the better—especially if cool critters and quirky fungi are involved!
Her love for the outdoors isn't just a hobby—it’s community.

Amber considers the trail and ultra-running scene her “found family” and has met many of her closest friends through muddy shoes and early starts. By day, she's an environmental scientist assessing risk in agricultural products. By night (and on weekends), she’s wrangling adventures with her husband, two daughters (8 & 12), a dog, a cat, and a tortoise.

As a past attendee of the STL Women’s Trail Summit, Amber knows firsthand how powerful the experience can be. That’s why she’s thrilled to help organize this year’s event—building safe, welcoming outdoor spaces where women can explore, connect, and thrive.

Let’s hear it for Amber—trail runner, science whiz, and all-around gem of the TTR community 💚 See you in October!
