Did Not Finish Policy
Q: What is Terrain Trail Runners - STL Did Not Finish (DNF)/Disqualified (DQ)/Dropdown policy?
Q: What is Terrain Trail Runners - STL Did Not Finish (DNF)/Disqualified (DQ)/Dropdown policy?
A: Runners starting a race but not finishing the intended distance will be listed as a DNF at the bottom of the results for their registered distance, with an indication of the furthest timed checkpoint they reached. Runners may not be “dropped down” to a shorter distance once they start a race and will not appear as finishers of the shorter distance. This ensures a fair event where runners know their competition and cannot be lowered in place by a runner dropping down in distance. Runners may switch distances before the start of their race and will be eligible as a finisher in that event.
DNF: Runners starting a race but not finishing the intended distance, in the intended order as marked, and under the official cutoffs, will be listed as a DNF at the bottom of the results for their registered distance.
For Fixed Time events, there is no DNF. Results will show the furthest distance reached according to the most recent timed checkpoint hit by a runner.
DQ: Runners must complete the course in its intended order, as marked by race officials. Deviating from or cutting the course may result in a timing penalty or disqualification. Further, runners deemed to be excessively rude to race personnel, volunteers, or others may be considered for disqualification.
Dropdowns: Runners may not be “dropped down” to a shorter distance once they have started a race and will not appear as finishers of the shorter distance. Runners may switch distances before the start of their race and will be eligible as a finisher in the updated race distance. *Please adhere to individual event distance change deadlines.
Distance Change: You are allowed to change distances for the event at any time up until the online race registration closes on UltraSignup. Log into your account - registration history - edit. No need to contact us!
If you should change your distance at any time after you register for the event, we are unable to provide you with a partial refund for doing so. If you move up in distance, you will be charged the difference for doing so at the current race registration rate.
*It is the athlete’s responsibility to know the course. While we mark the course to the best of our ability with signs, flour, volunteers, etc., in the end it becomes the athlete’s responsibility to know the course, based on the maps provided. We are not responsible for course sabotage or non-race personnel misdirecting athletes. And if you follow a pack of runners and know it’s the wrong way, don’t follow them. If there are any official course changes, a revised map will be posted on the website prior to the event AND announced at the race prior to the start*
