Shalini Bhajjan - Coach, Ultra-Runner extraordinaire
Just lace up and go for a run, you won't regret it! ~ Shalini Bhajjan
Things to know about me: I am the heart and soul of Terrain Trail Runners-STL, I've been a trail/ultra-runner since 2014 and February 4, 2014, was when Terrain Trail Runners came to life. It all started with the need to find others who run long distances and the itch/question - Why aren't there more Trail Ultras in St. Louis, MO? 11 events later, rest is history! Pertinent facts: Rockin' Rockwoods 53K and 1/2 Marathon was the first Trail Ultra I laid out the course for and race directed! I LOVE the course for Rockin' Rockwoods and everything about this race and I hope you'll find the challenge and beauty in the variations this course has to offer out of all the other races currently held here in St. Louis, MO!!! Want to know more about me? Talk to me after you cross the finish line at one of our races or we can chat over a cold dark beer anytime! READ MORE ABOUT Shalini Bhajjan! Angela Schmitt - Ultra-Runner
I was born and raised in St. Louis ('97 Mehlville High School). I received a BS in Chemistry in 2001 from University of Missouri - St. Louis and went on to earn her Master's of Science in Organic Chemistry from UMSL. I love everything science and currently work in Regulatory Affairs at a medical device company.
When I'm not nose deep in regulations, I spend time with my 3 kids. I coach the kid's soccer teams and take them out on local trails for hikes. I am pretty sure that I have a future trail runner amongst one of my kids! I also have a side hustle, teaching HIIT and Spin at a YMCA. I ran my first marathon in 2011 and stayed mainly on the road until 2017. My first trail ultra distance race was Rockin' Rockwoods in 2017. In 2018 I ran my first 100K at Shawnee Hills and my first 100 mile, Pinhoti. I enjoy volunteering at events as well as running them. The feeling of community and support amongst trail and ultra runners is what keeps my passion going! |
