Join Terrain Trail Runners-STL and Forest ReLeaf of Missouri in planting more trees!
Growing the next generation of trees is a (ultra)marathon - not a sprint. Forest ReLeaf is excited to welcome Terrain Trail Runner's support through their new "Trees for Tees Program" Initiative. In exchange for runners opting out of an extra tee shirt, they are able to support our mission to create a more resilient tree canopy in Missouri’s communities that supports healthy people, healthy habitats and a healthy planet.
The funds raised through this program are part of our CommuniTree Initiative and go directly to support the 10,000 free 3-gallon trees to over 200 community partners planted each year by volunteers. Anyone can apply for trees in spring or fall to support their local needs. You've likely seen recently planted Forestry ReLeaf trees during runs through Queeny Park, Cliff Cave Park, and Greensfelder Park (all CommuniTree recipients). All participating runners are encouraged to recruit some volunteers and apply for 2 or 200 trees to plant in your neighborhood or along your favorite trail!
To keep the ultra-runners involved, we'd like to show you all what we do through some hands-on planting of seedlings at our Nursery and Arboretum in Creve Coeur Park. We'll be transplanting 15,000 seedlings into pots and soil for the next batch of trees to be distributed. It's a great opportunity for folks to help grow the hundreds of trees St. Louis County Parks each year and check out recent plantings in Queeny Park near the Smith Shelter or along the disc golf course/Greenway in Creve Coeur.
