RACE RULES/FORMAT
The purpose of these rules is to ensure the run’s integrity as well as for the safety of all those involved. Violations of any rules or directives may be grounds for disqualification.

RACE RULES:
1) Queeny Backyard Ultra will start at 10 a.m. SHARP on Friday, March 6, 2026!
Before the start of each loop, the race director will go through the following protocol as such indicating time until the start.
--3 minutes before the start (whistle will be blown 3 times)
--2 minutes before the start (whistle will be blown 2 times)
--1 minute before the start (whistle will be blown 1 time)
--START (Cowbell will be rung)
You have ONE HOUR to finish the loop once it has started. If you finish a loop within the hour, you have the opportunity to START the NEXT hour provided you are IN the start corral when the next hour starts. If you do not finish within the hour, you are OUT of the race and considered a DNF.
NO LAP COMPLETED IN MORE THAN 60 MINUTES COUNTS IN THE RESULTS.
2) Once you are on the course, you are not allowed any aid from your crew or otherwise.
3) You are not allowed to return to the race HQ once the loop has started.
4) You must be ON and STAY on the course, unless you need to use the bathroom (please do so off the trail or road discreetly). There may or may not be a port-a-potty on the course.
5) No artificial aids (including trekking poles) are allowed
6) Pacers are NOT allowed.
7) Dogs are NOT allowed on course and/or in the staging/camping area for runners.
8) Once you are back to the start and assuming you've finished within the hour, you may use the bathroom, eat, drink, sleep, ponder the next loop, etc., but you MUST be back in the start corral, or you will be considered a DNF (NO EXCEPTIONS). This means you MAY NOT start late (even if you are in bathroom).
9) You may choose not to continue the race at any time; however, this will result in a DNF (Did Not Finish). If you decide to drop, you must inform the race timing crew of your decision. Failure to notify the timing crew before leaving will result in your results not being posted on UltraSignup. DO NOT LEAVE WITHOUT INFORMING THE RACE TIMING CREW.
10) If you are one that needs more time in between loops, then run faster so you have more time, but you might burn more energy. You may also choose to run slower which will give you less time back at the start/finish area, but you will burn less energy. You have to choose which strategy works best for YOU.
11) Runners are responsible for their own aid, but we will have water and coffee for RUNNERS ONLY!
12) Runners will be able to set up a SMALL tent or 10X10 Pop Up if they so choose nearby.
Near the start/finish line, runners will have a small area where they may set up a chair for quick access between loops.
13) Runners are allowed ONLY TWO CREW MEMBERS if they like.
14) ONLY ONE CAR per runner. Parking Tag is required. Runners MUST Park in the designated parking spots to avoid getting a ticket. Parking Tag can be collected at the time of check-in.
15) Restrooms are available near the start/finish area.
16)
The finisher is defined as the runner who completes a lap within the 60-minute time limit alone.
For example: if two runners remain and only one finishes the lap on time while the other exceeds the 60-minute limit, the runner who finishes on time is declared the winner.
17) Another Example: Two runners remain, both arrive on time, one decides not to start, the other has to complete another lap on time to earn one more lap to become the winner.  If this does not happen the race ends without a winner because two runners have the same number of laps, this must be recorded in the results.  Each runner's results are counted individually, but the race ends without a finisher.
Final race day Information and bib assignments will be emailed after Sunday, March 1, 2026, once online race registration closes on UltraSignup.
