Confessions of a Running Addict

4/9/2015

My fellow runners, ask not what you can do to RUN, ask what a RUN can do for you!

Aside from the obvious benefits staring you in the face -- like we run to lose weight, stay fit, improve our health, compete in races or try something new -- there is a deeper, more spiritual reason for running.

Yes, running is personal to each and every one of you. It means something very different from person to person.
Running is a big question mark that’s there each and every day.

Here are my top 10 reasons for running

  • Running makes me fearless; it makes me strong.
  • Running is my coping mechanism; I run to be resilient, to fight through today.
  • Running is my escapism for when I can’t and don’t want to deal with matters on hand; it never makes the issues go away, instead I can remove myself from the situation, completely disconnect, reset and come back to it with a punch!
  • I run for my mind, the purity, discipline, peace and admiration it brings to life.
  • I run to discover my breaking point; each and every run only to find that I can push it even further.
  • Running is my addiction; run or die, I say!
  • Running keeps me from becoming complacent.
  • Running challenges me to be a better ME.
  • Running has taught me humility and to always keep an open mind.
  • Running is my forever go-to, my safe haven.

I run, therefore I am.
